On November 24, 2021, The Canadian Museum of Nature announced the Kingfisher Interpretive Centre Society as the winner of the 2021 Nature Inspiration Award for Community Action. We feel honored to receive this prestigious award, and wish to recognize the many dedicated volunteers and donors, whose contributions over the years have brought us here. This video was put together by the Museum of Nature to showcase KICS on a national level.

Global News Okanagan featured the centre and our stewardship efforts as we are recognized by the Canadian Museum of Nature as we are one of four finalists in their community action award. This video shows you a sneak peak into our fall field trips with Hillview Elementary's grade 4 and 5 students.
The Kia7as join the children for the salmon fry release in June 2012. The children hatched and cared for the baby salmon since December at the Splatsin Tsm7aksaltn Centre. With the assistance of the Kingfisher Interpretive Centre personnel they learn about the Salmon's life cycle before gently releasing the Salmon into the Shuswap River to continue their lives. Features Kingfisher Interpretive Centre instructors Neil Brookes, Shona Bruce and Barb DuTot along with Rosalind Williams from the Splatsin Tsm7aksaltn.
